The future of figuring out Hillsborough County’s transit situation resumes

The Hillsborough County Policy Leadership Group convenes tomorrow for the first time since last October. When we last checked in with this group (consisting of the Hillsborough County commissioners and the mayors of Tampa, Plant City and Temple Terrace, who are all charged with crafting a transit plan for the county), they had just approved spending $500,000 in county money to hire the global consulting firm Parsons Brinckerhoff to conduct public outreach on a transit plan. Shortly thereafter, County Administrator Mike Merrill — who has been leading the efforts — announced that an additional $400,000 would be needed to pay Parsons for engineering studies.
